Saint James House of Prayer
The St James House of Prayer is for people who wish to spend intentional time on their spiritual journey.
Prior to coming we will discuss briefly over the phone and by email what you are looking for in your time away. On your arrival a member of the hospitality team will help you settle in and make sure you have everything you need. After settling in, there will be opportunity for an initial conversation which will begin the retreat. During your stay daily spiritual direction is available if you wish. We will have a final conversation before you leave.
What the House offers
The St James’ House of Prayer is comfortable, fully furnished two bedroom self- contained accommodation located in the back part of the former St James’ vicarage next to the church. The front of the house is used as the Parish Office. We provide bedding, including linen, as well as basic cooking ingredients, condiments, tea, instant coffee and sugar. All meals self-catered. There is a fully equipped kitchen. You may wish to bring your own food; however, there are restaurants, cafes and supermarkets in the village within easy walking distance or a short drive away in Queenscliff. There is a CD and a DVD player in the house. Everything you need to clean and vacuum before you leave is provided. Unfortunately the house does not have wheelchair access.
Each visit can be from 1 to 4 nights (under some circumstances, by prior arrangement, this may be extended). This ministry is made possible by the benevolence of those who see its importance, including those who are in a position to give more than the recommended donation per night. No-one will be excluded due to inability to pay.
