The St James House of Prayer is a house of retreat for people who wish to spend intentional time on their spiritual journey. A visit can be from 1 to 4 nights (under some circumstances, by prior arrangement, this may be extended). The program for the retreat is discussed with Father Peter prior to arrival and may include participating the the daily round of liturgies, spiritual accompaniment and taking advantage of the local environs for walks and relaxation.
The St James’ House of Prayer is comfortable, fully furnished two-bedroom self- contained accommodation located next to the church.
We provide towels and bedding, including linen, as well as basic cooking ingredients, condiments, tea, instant coffee and sugar. All meals are self-catered. There is a fully equipped kitchen. You may wish to bring your own food; however, there are restaurants, cafes and supermarkets in the village within easy walking distance or a short drive away in Queenscliff. There is a CD and a DVD player in the house. Everything you need to clean and vacuum before you leave is provided.
Unfortunately, the house does not have wheelchair access at this time.
This ministry is made possible by the benevolence of those who see its importance, including those who are in a position to give more than the recommended donation per night. No-one will be excluded due to inability to pay.
